History of the Park
The story of Oak Park begins with a group of courageous pioneers who left their homes in the Midwest and ventured out into the California wilderness. These settlers, called the Simi Valley pioneers, arrived in 1887 and began to establish themselves in this new land. One of the first things they did was to set aside a tract of land for a park. The name Oak Park was chosen because of the abundance of oak trees in the area.
Today, Oak Park is one of Simi Valley’s most popular campgrounds. The park features miles hiking and biking trails, as well as beautiful scenery and peaceful camping spots. It’s no wonder why so many people visit Oak Park every year!
