The Local Peasant Restaurant
The Local Peasant in Woodland Hills, California is the brainchild of Mario Guddemi, Salvatore Aurora (founders of the Black Market Liquor Bar, Scopa Italian Roots, Old Lightning, The Chestnut Club, and DAMA), and Karl Makinen.
Local Peasant is your Woodland Hills neighborhood American gastropub with chef-driven comfort food. Our bartenders make handcrafted cocktails and source local beer, wine, and produce.
We have two locations in Sherman Oaks and Woodland Hills, both located on Ventura Boulevard, that offer a locally sourced menu that includes over 20+ tap beers, as well as a variety of bottled microbrews.
Our goal is to create an atmosphere where families and neighbors feel comfortable gathering for drinks and dinner.

“We had a wonderful time! The fish and chips dish was delicious! The salmon was outstanding and big thumbs up for the jalapeño mashed potatoes! Great beer, wine and cocktail menu! Service was great; it was busy but we were treated very efficiently! They surprised us with complimentary desserts for our 45th anniversary! Well done!”
“Great local spot. Whether you’re seated indoors or or on the patio. Tasty food, good prices, great Pierce election and full bar. Is family friendly as well. Or good for a date.”
“I’ve attended several times now. This time was for brunch on Sunday. Always experienced great food and wonderful service. I believe the staff that took care of us was Alexandria (The name on the receipt) she was phenomenonal! The manager was active in making sure everything was great and even brought the boxes to go. Looking forward to returning for great food and outstanding service.”
